FOX is giving its suspension forks new damping cartridges to mark the company’s 50th anniversary. The new cartridge portfolio ranges from the GRIP X2 (focus on maximum downhill performance), to the GRIP X (focus on uncompromising trail performance), to the GRIP SL cartridge (focus on light cross-country performance). What remains is the stiff casting, the floating thru-axle in combination with the bolt-on Kabolt X thru-axle. Another highlight is the dip tube ventilation and the channels integrated in the dip tubes to improve lubrication and drain the compressed air in the casting. The proven FLOAT EVOL technology ensures perfect responsiveness. Stiff 38 mm stanchions, exclusive SKF seals and the closed cartridge ensure a long service life. So nothing stands in the way of riding fun on the trail.
GRIP X2 damping
The GRIP X2 is the latest evolution of the ultimate FOX cartridge and takes over from the legendary GRIP2, making it the perfect companion for all gravity riders. But how can the top damping cartridge be improved even further? FOX has been able to further increase the sensitivity by using a larger base valve (24 instead of 20mm), which generates more oil flow and can be extremely finely adjusted using a classic shim stack with 23 different valves. Both the rebound and compression damping can be adjusted over a wide range in both high and low speed. You will be thrilled!
EVOL
The enlarged negative air chamber improves the response of the fork. This increases comfort because the breakaway torque has been reduced. In addition, a more linear spring characteristic curve offers better performance, especially in the middle spring travel ranges.
FLOAT AIR SPRING
The FLOAT air spring system reduces the breakaway torque and thus offers a highly sensitive fork and full comfort even with small bumps, for every type of rider and at different air pressures. Similar to the FLOAT suspension struts, the FLOAT suspension system is characterized by a positive and a negative air chamber, which automatically balance each other out when riding. Every rider thus enjoys the benefits of the correct, precisely balanced air pressure in both air chambers. The progression of the spring characteristic can be adjusted with our air volume spacers – allowing every rider to precisely set the characteristics of the air spring.
BLEEDERS
The dip tube bleeders allow air pressure equalization at the touch of a button. The pressure build-up in the dip tubes drastically reduces the fork performance and prevents the full suspension travel from being reached, while at the same time the sensitivity and responsiveness of the fork suffers on small bumps.
LOWER LEG CHANNELS
When a fork compresses, the air in the lower leg channels is compressed at the same time. The further the fork compresses, the more the pressure increases. This effect means that the fork responds harder and may not be able to use the full suspension travel.
The overflow channels help to solve this problem by directing the compressed air from the lower part of the fork tubes upwards, thus reducing the unintended increase in pressure. A further advantage of these channels is that the lubricating oil in the lower section of the dip tubes circulates upwards during the spring process and continuously lubricates the foam rings and the sliding bushes.
AIR VOLUME SPACERS
The FLOAT air spring on FOX forks and shocks can be fine-tuned using volume spacers to make the suspension elements more progressive or less progressive. This allows the rider to fine-tune the suspension exactly to their needs.
KASHIMA COAT
The Genuine Kashima Coat coating for a buttery smooth ride is exclusively available only from FOX, the Kashima Coat logo is applied to both stanchions. The distinctive golden Genuine Kashima Coat coating offers superior overall performance and ensures minimal friction and optimum responsiveness with maximum durability.
FLOATING AXLE
Floating axles are similar to conventional thru-axle systems, but offer a significant performance advantage. The special bearing ensures perfect alignment of the fork and avoids unwanted friction caused by tension between the stanchions and lower tubes. Floating axles ensure a much more even suspension movement over the entire range of fork travel and thus improve the response behavior enormously.
